Nybrostrand

Nybrostrand, on the south coast of Skåne, on the afternoon of 14 July 2026. The recording runs from 16:14 to 16:21 — seven minutes and thirty-nine seconds. The sea was almost flat, and the waves arriving here are small: a steady arrival rather than a crash, spreading thin and wide across the sand before sliding back.

The microphone was moved once, about two and a half minutes in. For the first stretch it faced the water, and the wind sat on it the whole time. For the second it stood a meter out in the shallows, turned west along the beach, at the placement and direction of an intended pinhole frame. That position was the sheltered one, and the clip on this page is taken from it.

Being in the water rather than beside it separates two things that are usually assumed to sit together. The waves arrive from the left, out of the open sea to the south. The sound happens on the right, where they break and run up the sand.

The full 7:39 is available as a WAV download, including the windy first stretch before the microphone was moved. It has had the same treatment as the clip — the rumble below 70 Hz cut away, which is wind on the capsule rather than sea, and the level raised — so what is left is the wind you can actually hear.
